Felix Fernandez
Principal Research Scientist
Felix Fernandez is a Principal Research Scientist at FHI 360. He directs the United States Programs research and evaluation agenda which includes a portfolio of health, education, teacher preparation and professional development, college and career readiness, and workforce development projects.
Previous experience
Prior to joining FHI 360, Fernandez has designed and conducted mixed-method evaluation designs, program evaluation, and research on educational interventions in school-based settings with a focus on at-risk populations. Past efforts include developing a fidelity of implementation model for the Investing in Innovation (i3) validation study of Diplomas Now; a quasi-experimental study on the effectiveness of NAF career academies; analysis of post-secondary performance metrics under the Education Trust’s Access to Success initiative; a student-level randomized control trial of the Communities In School (CIS) model; and a multi-site cluster randomized control trial of Odyssey Math, a web-based mathematics program.
In addition, Fernandez is adept at bridging research to practice and providing research and evaluation support and technical assistance. He has previously served as U.S. Department of Education Race to the Top Network’s Instructional Improvement and Data Systems Community of Practice Program Manager and as a Research Extension Specialist for the Regional Education Laboratory – Mid-Atlantic.
Fernandez has a doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York.
