Carolyne A. Akello is the MOSAIC Project Director Uganda at FHI 360. She leads the Uganda team to fulfil MOSAIC’s key objective of accelerating the introduction and scale-up of new biomedical HIV prevention products among women, with a focus on adolescent girls and young women.

Prior to joining FHI 360, Akello was an Investigator with the MTN-034/REACH Adolescent study at the Makerere University Johns Hopkins University (MU-JHU) Research Collaboration.  She is a medical doctor and Epidemiologist from the London School of Medicine and Tropical Hygiene (LSHTM) and has over 10 years of experience in HIV/AIDS research with a focus on HIV prevention among women of reproductive age including adolescent girls and young women whom she is so passionate about. She has worked in several studies looking at various PrEP products for HIV prevention under the Microbicide Trials Network (MTN) and HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN) in various capacities.
