Tina Sanghvi


Tina Sanghvi is the Senior Technical Advisor for Maternal, Infant, Young Child and Adolescent Nutrition on the Alive & Thrive team at FHI 360. The Alive & Thrive initiative works to save lives, prevent illness, and ensure healthy growth and development through optimal adolescent and maternal nutrition, breastfeeding, and complementary feeding practices. Through application of evidence-based frameworks and interventions, implementation research, and collaboration with a vast network of partners it strengthens policies and builds the capacity of government and non-government agencies in low- and middle-income countries to advance the scale and quality of nutrition programs through social behavior change combined with systems strengthening approaches. Prior to working at FHI 360’s as technical advisor, she served as the Alive & Thrive country director in Bangladesh and regional director of S. Asia and later Africa. Initially a field manager with CARE in India and Peru, and later a U.S. government official, she established USAID’s first global Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition program. She has trained and advised, planned, helped implement, and monitored programs and implementation research in more than 25 countries in child survival, micronutrients, economic analysis, integration of nutrition in health services, inequalities, and social and behavior change. She is the author of over 80 publications, has advised UN agencies and currently serves on a WHO/UNICEF Expert panel to develop global implementation guidance on nutrition.
