Rindala Mikhael is a Program Officer in the Civil Society and Peacebuilding department at FHI 360. She supports the coordination of activities on countering violent extremism and youth engagement in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as part of the CoVE-MENA project, with a particular focus on Tunisia.

Mikhael strongly believes that communities, and particularly young people in them, are best-placed to respond to the challenges they face and advance themselves, and has been working on programs to enable and support communities and youth since her undergraduate years in her home country, Lebanon. Since then, Mikhael has supported research, field activities, and training workshops for development projects aimed at furthering youth engagement, civil society strengthening, and peacebuilding in Lebanon, Uganda, and the Maghreb region.

In Lebanon, Mikhael was involved in various programs implemented by the Lebanese American University to support civic engagement and leadership of young people, and worked with a civil society campaign that advocates for reforming the country’s electoral law and processes. As part of a project with the youth division at ChildFund International, Mikhael was part of a team that conducted research, including field research in Uganda, on youth civic engagement and leadership theories and practices worldwide, including on the factors affecting youth engagement and disengagement and the effect of conflict on young people in the MENA region.

Mikhael has a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs from the Lebanese American University and a Master of Arts degree in International Development from George Washington University.
